Pregis Sponsors and Supports the Packaging Jamboree

Clemson University Hosts the 2023 Pack Jam, Bringing Packaging Students and Professionals Together for Three Days of Activities

The Pack Jam is back and being held in person after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The theme for this year's event is "Pack is Back," which is appropriate given the circumstances. The annual student-led conference is returning in person to Clemson University in 2023 from March 31st to April 2nd.

As a one-of-a-kind opportunity for packaging engineering students from across the United States and Canada to connect with their peers and industry professionals, this three-day event promises to be an enriching experience.

On the first day of the conference, students will have the opportunity to visit the Pregis Performance Flexibles Anderson facility, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at what Kevin Baudhin, President and CEO of Pregis describes as "the most technologically advanced extrusion facility in North America."

The 168,500-square-foot facility is an $80 million investment by Pregis to manufacture performance-first flexible packaging solutions for food, consumer packaged goods, and medical device applications. Further, Pregis’ Anderson operation is an investment in sustainability. Not only are Pregis Performance Flexibles Renew Series films manufactured there, but the entire facility was designed to drive toward Pregis’ commitment to a negative waste facility. The Anderson location is a prime example of how Pregis is advancing the packaging industry's capabilities, and this tour is essential for new professionals

The second day of the conference is packed with events, including breakout sessions, giving students a chance to learn and discuss the latest trends and innovations in the packaging industry. As part of the service project sponsored by Pregis, attendees will prepare disaster readiness kits, giving them a chance to contribute to the community and make a positive impact. These kits will be distributed by Pregis philanthropic partner, Uzima, as part of the company’s commitment to “Inspyre” people and positively impact lives. The conference will end with closing remarks and Clemson campus tours.

Overall, the 2023 Pack Jam at Clemson University promises to be an exciting and informative event for all attendees. With a diverse range of activities and events, this conference is an excellent opportunity for packaging students to connect with industry professionals. The event will undoubtedly help advance their knowledge and understanding of the packaging industry and set them up for future career development.

Open to all students studying packaging engineering, Pack Jam is an annual event in which most of the industry’s trade organizations and major employers participate. Pregis, the Flexible Packaging Association, and the Institute of Packaging Professionals will have up-to-date information about this and other student networking and career development events.
