Pregis & Printpack Collaborate to Offer the Preserve™ PE Certified Circular Content Polyethylene Pouch
The Preserve™ PE Certified Circular Content Polyethylene Pouch, featuring Pregis Performance Flexibles Renew™ Series sealant film made with ExxonMobil Exxtend™ certified circular resin technology is now available to the market because of the successful collaboration between Pregis and Printpack.
This first-of-its-kind packaging solution helps expand the range of primary packaging that can include certified circular content while maintaining product performance.
This collaboration between Printpack and Pregis brings together the expertise needed to create a sustainable structure that can meet a brand’s sustainability goals while also addressing the need for a high-quality packaging solution. The debut of the Preserve PE Certified Circular Content Polyethylene Pouch is an exciting advancement in sustainable packaging technology.
The new pouch meets the prequalification requirements for the How2Recycle® Store Drop-off label and meets the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) Design Guidelines for Flexible Packaging. It is designed to support brand owner commitments to use packaging with circular content along with being recyclable, and provides an extensive operational range for stand-up pouch packaging equipment, allowing for greater flexibility and efficiency during the packaging process.
An extensive operational range ensures that equipment can accommodate various operating conditions, including temperature and speed while maintaining the final product's quality and integrity. As a result, manufacturers can produce packaging faster and with fewer errors, decreasing downtime, improving productivity, and reducing cost. This operational characteristic makes it easy to incorporate the Preserve PE Certified Circular Content Polyethylene Pouch into existing production lines.
Pregis and Printpack aim to preserve the environment by driving toward a circular economy
In the original launch press announcement, Dave McLain, Senior Director of Sustainability for Printpack, explained, "Printpack is excited to work with Pregis on this sustainable structure. We fully recognize the importance of working with partners to develop films that drive us to a circular economy."
Jonathan Quinn, Director of Market Development and Sustainability for Pregis Performance Flexibles, also expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. "I'm hoping we can demystify advanced recycling and show how advanced recycling offers versatility in high-performance applications without the performance and food contact limitations of mechanical recycling. That's one of the best ways we can start to create a more productive dialogue with brands about how and when to use these materials to achieve circular and reused content goals.”
