McClure named president of Pregis’ South Carolina film extrusion operation
Pregis recently named Jon T. McClure, president of its new $80 million blown film extrusion operation in Anderson, South Carolina.
McClure brings more than 40 years of blown film operational excellence to Pregis. In 1997, he founded South Carolina-based ISO Poly Films, Inc., and served as the company’s chief executive officer until the company was sold in 2014. Under his leadership, ISO Poly Films became a leader in custom film production with two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and 160 employees, generating $115 million in sales.
He is now responsible for what is believed to be the most technologically-advanced extrusion facility in North America which has been engineered to meet market-driven performance requirements. The 168,500 square foot plant features newly-installed lines, producing the latest engineered films which are used downstream to manufacture performance-oriented, flexible packaging solutions for food, CPG, healthcare/medical and industrial applications. The facility also features a world-class film laboratory to develop and test materials.
“We are extremely pleased to have someone of Jon’s caliber and experience head one of the crown jewels in the Pregis operation. His significant expertise will help ensure that the facility meets or exceeds marketplace demand for innovative, performance-driven extruded blown films,” said Kevin Baudhuin, chief executive officer, Pregis.
In keeping with Pregis’ previously announced 2K30 environmental goals, the Anderson facility also features the latest in energy-efficiency in manufacturing and other plant functions. This includes LEED standards for appropriate materials, water and power conservation measures, waste recovery systems, use of recycled materials, etc. Pregis’ objective is to run its businesses in the most sustainable manner possible, so that it improves its carbon footprint, reduces environmental impact, while making significant, positive contributions to people and society.
McClure has also served on the board of directors for the Flexible Packaging Association and the Southeastern board of directors for the Society of the Plastics Industry for more than a decade. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina Upstate.
